How to make a drawing with liquid wallpaper, application scheme.

Step 1: Drawing on the prepared surface

On the surface prepared for the application of Silk Plaster liquid wallpaper, create a design with a simple pencil or marker or brush. A properly prepared surface has a rough structure, so the pencil in this case will be consumed quickly enough.

Addendum

If you don't know how to draw, the outline of the drawing can be superimposed on the wall using a stencil. More complex images can be applied using a projector, pointing it at the wall and tracing the outline with a pencil. There is also a way to transfer an image using a grid. To do this, draw the original image in squares, then apply that number of squares to the wall. Then, in each square, repeat the outline of the drawing.

Step 2: Applying liquid wallpaper to the image

Apply the material with a plastic spatula so that it protrudes a little beyond the outline of the design by a few mm (1–2). In this case, the thickness of the material layer should be about 1.5–2 mm. If you want to make a three-dimensional design, you can increase the layer of material applied, but this, of course, will increase consumption.

Step 3: Align the design with liquid wallpaper

With the tip of a plastic spatula or a small rubber spatula, we “beat” the material on the edges of the outline of the design. If at the same time accumulations of material form on the edges of the contour (thicker layer), press lightly with a spatula and with a cutting motion of the edge of the spatula, simply cut the edge with the excess material.

Important

The layer thickness at the edges of the image should be the same across its entire area, so it will look more seamless.

Step 4: Apply a second layer of liquid wallpaper to the design

If multiple colors of the material are used in the design, wait until the previous layer of liquid wallpaper dries (3-4 hours is enough for the edges of the design to dry and form a durable layer) and apply the next layer. It is necessary to apply the second layer from the edges with the previous layer, so that the thickness of the layer at the edge of the outline is the same in both colors. If necessary, the drying process can be accelerated with a household hair dryer, drying the edges of the layer.

Important

Apply the next layer of material with a slight gap from the edge of the previous layer, this will allow you to spread this layer close to the previous one with light pressure around the edges to even out the layer thickness.

Step 5: Decorate drawings on liquid wallpaper

If you need to highlight the edges of the outline of the design more clearly, this can be done with a marker pen or an alcohol-based marker. Also, you can use cords, decorative ribbons, thin baseboards, etc., gluing them with hot glue.

If desired, color schemes can be used to give the drawing a more realistic appearance, but it should be remembered that some colors can get dirty and wear out during the use.

Also, if you wish, you can paint directly on liquid wallpaper after it has completely dried with acrylic or oil paints.

To remember

Liquid wallpaper is a material that can always be fixed, good, or at least it can be easily removed from the wall, so go ahead, the result can always be fixed.
